The summer is the perfect time to get one step ahead of your
competition with some print marketing planning.
Many companies tend to put planning on a hold for the summer -
people are in and out on vacation and no one seems to be making
any big decisions, especially marketing ones.
But if you want to get the one up on your competition, start
planning- in the summer!
Break down the steps to make your goal of being ready for a
September kickoff attainable. For example:
- Week 1: Decide on budget and marketing campaign(s)
- Week 2: Develop print and copy
- Week 3: Review and make edits. Send to printer
- Week 4-5: Kick off your campaigns! Send out those postcards, get the new flyers out or hang up that banner with your special fall, limited-time offer
Using print marketing for fall campaigns
Not sure what type of print marketing to use or what type of
campaign to run? It all depends on your goals.
- Postcards: Think special fall-related offers ($100 off fall leaf removal) or call to actions related to end of year budget decisions (Is your data protected? Free small-business IT security evaluation)
- Flyers: Have a local restaurant? Use flyers to highlight your seasonal offerings. If you're a service based company with a brick and mortar office, you can do the same.
- Loyalty Cards: Run a promotion that starts in September and make it stick with loyalty cards. Customers love feeling like they're a part of something and getting a reward- and you get repeat business!
The above are just a few fall-specific examples but don't feel
the need to focus solely on those. Any type of marketing push is
going to get a larger chunk of attention if promoted in the
beginning of the fall season while all your competitors are just
starting to plan.
